October 4, 2009 – Getting Intellectual About Property

Every time a new piece of paid software is created, there’s always a risk that someone’s going to go out of their way to steal it.

On this episode of The Gadget Grill, we’ll talk to Elgato, makers of the EyeTV software & hardware for Apple computers to hear about how software infringement as well as intellectual property is handled from the perspective of a company on the frontlines fighting it.

Plus we’ve got these… weird… tripod like things in the studio… taking us over and making it seem like there are aliens among us… shining light at us. We’re looking at the Gorillapod Focus and the Gorillatorch in this show… or they’re looking at us. One of them. We’re not really sure.

All that plus ways to recycle your phone, the new training wheel, random Apple news including multi-touch gestures, and a hell of a lot more. Plus an insane amount of disturbing things happening behind the microphone. It’s just one of those shows.

Tonight’s playlist:

  1. The Portland Cello Project – Beat (Health, Life and Fire) (from “The Thao and Justin Power Sessions”)
  2. Big Brother & The Holding Company – Turtle Blues (from “Cheap Thrills”)

  4. Andre Previn – Something’s Coming (from “West Side Story”)

Next week, we’re talking about how to protect yourself online from all the baddies out there! See you then!
