Monitor Your Baby. Using Your Mobile Phone.

In the US, the Virginia-based biomedical engineering firm Exmovere have developed a sleepsuit for babies that uses biosensor textiles to monitor a baby’s essential body functions, such as their heart rate, activity level, and their emotional well-being.

Named the Exmobaby, this all-in-one comes with a wireless transceiver and software for your mobile phone, thus permitting remote monitoring of your baby.

I’m not altogether sure if this is better than a traditional baby monitor; a part of me tends to think that with the long distance remote capabilities that this might offer, parents might be tempted to do exactly that: montior their babies from longer distances.

I don’t think that that’s a great way to be a parent.
