And there’s an interesting back story to that. But first, a question: if you have members of your family who may be elderly, how do you assist them in managing their technology? Their phone? Internet access? NBN? Foxtel? May we suggest that you design a plan to assist you with this task, perhaps not too dissimilar from the plans that people in bushfire prone regions need to have in place?
The big power outage in Sydney’s eastern suburbs affected my family in a number of diverse ways, which led to the question above, as well as me having to grab a new phone for my 92 years young mum.
This week’s show covers all of that, including a chat about the phone, an Alcatel 3026G, and what I consider to be a few serious design flaws.
And Huawei have a new watch that you cannot buy – the Watch GT. We have the watch, we talk about it, and tell you how and where you can get one.
It’s all in this weeks jam-packed Gadget Grill, and here’s the podcast.

Mon, 28 Jan 2019 09:44:39 +0000https://www.gadgetgrill.com.au/?p=3357I have always had issues with mirrorless cameras, primarily due to the fact that they have to use a video monitor in order to see what you’re taking a photo of. The problem is that there is nothing that is as fast as an optical viewfinder, and video monitors have always suffered from some form of lag, which for me impedes the photographic process.
In this week’s show we have a close look at Canon’s new EOS R camera, which is a mirrorless camera with a full frame sensor. Please check out our podcast of the show to hear how it performs.

Wed, 25 Apr 2018 22:31:33 +0000https://www.gadgetgrill.com.au/?p=3239Jason, our Faceplant Kid, rejoins us for this week’s show, in which we discuss, apart from Jason’s travels, the reasons for his travels, being the official release of Huawei’s new P20 phones.
Over the last few weeks I’ve had a few accessories from 3SixT, including their new wireless studio earbuds – which did not fall out of my ears, a wireless phone charger, and finally, a simple to use in-car holder for your phone which attaches to your car’s air vents.
