While we’re discussing the earthquake, tsunami, and meltdowns etc that are so tragically unfolding in Japan, we should also remind you that the scammers are out there and wanting to put their hands into your wallets, your pockets, and to empty your bank accounts by any means possible.
These lowlifes have no hearts, nor soul, nor do they have any consciences, and over the next few weeks you should prepare yourself for a barrage of emails and social media requests for your attention, all claiming to be wanting you to be helping the victims of this sad occurrence.
Be warned that most, if not all, of these requests will be false, and probably malicious. Even if you know who these messages appear to be coming from, be suspicious, be cautious, make sure that your anti-virus and anti-phishing solutions are fully up to date.
By all means, offer support and contribute to those charities that you believe can help, but do so through traditional and reliable means, and try to avoid the scammers who just want to suck you dry.
Related to this issue, we are also seeing emails being circulated warning of, for instance, fallout from the damaged nuclear power stations, and how, for instance, that fallout might land in places like the US. These are also fake.
Check your sources, verify the data before you get yourself all worried and upset.
The world has not yet come to an end, and the fallout will not cause you to grow a third nipple.
