August 16, 2009 – Things have changed…

This week, The Gadget Grill chefs pulled out their special sauce and, together with some special ingredients and harnessing the power of enough electricity to fry forty chickens, we made a time machine to take us back to Woodstock to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the rock festival.

But before we did, we got someone to tell us all about how music technology has changed in the world. On this show, we talk to Jeff Cripps from A# Recording Studios about just how things have changed.

Plus, we’ll also road test a gadget that never existed. It’s a GPS unlike any you’ll ever see… at least until someone copies our idea and sells it to the world!

Edit: Well that didn’t take long. I wonder if Bob Dylan listens to The Gadget Grill…

All that plus news, flares, tie-dye (did I even spell that right?), music trivia, and a whole bunch more!

Play

This week, the playlist was programmed by the oldest of the chefs in The Grill, Gary Stark. Here’s what we played on our commemorative Woodstock show…

  1. Country Joe McDonald – I Feel Like I’m Fixing To Die Rag (from “Woodstock”)
  2. Elvis Presley – Heartbreak Hotel (from “Love Me Tender – The Valentines Collection”)
  3. The Allman Brothers Band – Ramblin’ Man (from “The Universal Masters Collection”)
  4. Les Paul and Mary Ford – How High The Moon (from “Les Paul with Mary Ford: The Best of the Capitol Masters, 90th Birthday Edition”)
  5. Joe Cocker – With A Little Help From My Friends (from “Woodstock”)

Next time, we’re looking into the light and finding out how torches, flashlights, and the LED have come about in our day and age. That’s next time on The Gadget Grill… see you then!
